We are dedicated to advancing equality, diversity, and inclusion within the housing sector. Recognising the historical gaps in our research, we have established a robust program to not only address these issues but to foster a culture of inclusivity that permeates every aspect of our work.
At the UK Collaborative Centre for Housing Evidence, we delve into the core concepts of equality, diversity, inclusion, and equity within the context of housing studies.
Equality
Means ensuring everyone has access to the same opportunities and rights in housing services.
Diversity
Recognises and values the unique backgrounds and perspectives that individuals bring to our communities.
Inclusion
Extends these concepts into practical application, ensuring all community members, regardless of their background, are actively included and valued in housing decisions and developments.
Equity
Addresses the need for fairness in housing, adapting opportunities and support to meet different individual needs, ensuring everyone can achieve optimal outcomes.
Through broadening relationships and providing a platform for diverse voices, we aim to encourage wider participation, share experiences, and shed light on societal challenges and research gaps.
Our commitment is to foster respectful discussions, where questions and critical discourse are not only welcomed but embraced in a sensitive manner.
Together, we strive to develop a strategic plan of action for future research priorities, bridging the gaps and contributing to a more informed and inclusive discourse.
What do we do?
We are committed to embedding EDI drivers into all of our future work. We recognise that we only know so much, and there’s still a lot of learning ahead and we want to ensure this work values and engages with different forms of knowledge and experiences.
