Biography
Dr Andrew Robert Watson is an independent research associate with the UK Collaborative Centre for Housing Evidence (CaCHE) and the Urban Big Data Centre (UBDC), and serves as Research Director at Housing Opinion Ltd. Before entering academia, Andrew built a successful career in property consulting. He holds an MBA from the University of Northampton and an MSc from the University of Glasgow.
His PhD research investigated the investment behaviours of landlords and their impact on the Scottish Private Rented Sector (SPRS). Recent projects include a historical analysis of changes in landlordism over the past thirty years and a study exploring the challenges facing rural landlords in Argyll and Bute.
Andrew’s research interests span housing policy, housing economics, investment behaviours, and repair and maintenance practices. He is currently engaged in projects focused on the lettings sector and the ongoing Scottish housing emergency.
