‘You Can Touch the Bricks’: The role of Asset Tangibility in Landlord Investment Decision Making

For 30 years growth in the Private Rented Sector (PRS) has been driven by part-time, small-scale, profit-seeking landlords in several Western nations. This report explores the role of asset tangibility in landlord investment decisions, drawing on research from other investment domains. It is a mixed methods study, comprising an online survey of over a thousand Scottish landlords and follow-up interviews with over 30 landlords and PRS professionals.
