Dr Nicholas Harrington is a Research Associate with the UK Collaborative Centre for Housing Evidence.


Dr Nicholas Harrington is involved in research investigating the decarbonisation of the UK’s domestic heating; reforms to the UK’s rental regulations; housing market impacts of EPCs; and, the redevelopment and urban renewal of inner-city spaces. Recent output includes reports titled, “Heat Pumps and Domestic Heat Decarbonisation in the UK: A Systems Thinking Analysis of Barriers to Adoption,” and “The Impact of Regulatory Reform on the Private Rented Sector.” Nicholas received his PhD from the University of Sydney, completing a dissertation that theorised a political and international relations application for Niels Bohr’s quantum physical concept ‘complementarity.’ This background in political science and physics provides Nicholas with a unique perspective on the intersection between policy-making and the built environment.
