Professor Ed Ferrari

Co-Investigator & Knowledge Exchange Lead (North England / Midlands)

Professor Ed Ferrari is Knowledge Exchange Lead for the UK Collaborative Centre for Housing Evidence’s Northern Hub, and Director of the Centre for Regional Economic and Social Research (CRESR) based at Sheffield Hallam University.

Biography

Prof Ed Ferrari is Knowledge Exchange Lead for the UK Collaborative Centre for Housing Evidence’s North and Midlands of England Hub, and Director of the Centre for Regional Economic and Social Research (CRESR) based at Sheffield Hallam University.

Ed is responsible for coordinating CaCHE’s Knowledge Exchange, partnership and policy transfer activities as they relate to stakeholders and housing issues across the North and Midlands of England.

His research interests include the geography of housing markets, planning policy and strategy, transport, and city regions. He has methodological expertise in the use of spatial analytical methods and longstanding experience of directing applied research and evaluation projects that work at the interface between academia, policy and practice communities.

Ed has previously held positions at the University of Sheffield, University of Birmingham and Birmingham City Council. He has worked with a wide range of funders and clients, including Joseph Rowntree Foundation, ESRC, Research England, British Academy, DLUHC, Scottish Government, Shelter Scotland and several local councils and mayoral combined authorities. Ed is a past Chair of the Housing Studies Association, and currently is a Managing Editor of the leading international journal Housing Studies.
