Zahra Nasreen

Biography

Dr. Zahra Nasreen is a postdoctoral housing researcher at the Sydney School of Architecture, Design and Planning, the University of Sydney. She is currently involved in multiple research projects on housing and migration, housing informality, and housing platformisation, funded by the ARC, AHURI, the University of Sydney’s Ignition Grant, and various industry partners. Her research has been published in leading academic journals, such as Housing Studies, Urban Studies, and Journal of the American Planning Association. Zahra has convened unit modules and delivered guest lectures on informal housing markets and sharing economies.

Zahra holds MSc and BSc (Hons) in city and regional planning. She completed her PhD in urban planning and geography for which she was awarded the prestigious Macquarie University DVC(R) Commendation. Her professional experience includes more than 14 years working across urban planning roles in Australia, Pakistan and Papua New Guinea, advancing sustainability goals across settlement and infrastructure planning. Zahra is also actively engaged in organising and leading conference panels and international symposiums at both Australasian and global venues.
