Biography

Dr Bob Smith is a Knowledge Exchange Broken at the UK Collaborative Centre for Housing Evidence and an Honorary Senior Research Fellow in the School of Geography and Planning at Cardiff University.

Bob has more than 35 years’ worth of housing research experience, with a strong emphasis on housing policy and practice. Much of his research over the last two decades has focused on housing in a devolved Wales, linking housing to wider issues of exclusion, regeneration and governance. He has published widely in academic and professional journals as well as through reports, chapters and books.

Bob is a corporate member of the Chartered Institute of Housing, and during his time in Wales, he has been closely involved in the development of housing policy and practice. Bob is a non-executive Director of Cardiff and the Vale Credit Union and an independent member of the Regulatory Board for Wales (2016-2022).

In his role with CaCHE  Bob will work alongside Pete Mackie to develop, support and maintain the Knowledge Exchange Hub in Wales, building networks that span the academic, policy and practice communities.
