Biography
Professor Ed Ferrari is Knowledge Exchange Lead for the UK Collaborative Centre for Housing Evidence’s Northern Hub, and Director of the Centre for Regional Economic and Social Research (CRESR) based at Sheffield Hallam University.
Ed is responsible for coordinating CaCHE’s Knowledge Exchange, partnership and policy transfer activities as they relate to stakeholders and housing issues across the North of England.
His research interests include the geography of housing markets, planning policy and strategy, transport, and city regions. He has methodological expertise in the use of spatial analytical methods and longstanding experience of directing applied research projects that work at the interface between academia, policy and practice communities.
Ed has previously held positions at the University of Sheffield, University of Birmingham and Birmingham City Council. He has worked with a wide range of funders and clients, including Joseph Rowntree Foundation, ESRC, British Academy, MHCLG, Scottish Government, Shelter Scotland and several local authorities. He advised Sheffield City Region LEP on a range of strategic housing issues and is a past Chair of the Housing Studies Association. Ed is Managing Editor of the leading international journal Housing Studies.
