Catch up: Scottish Housing Policy Conference 2022
From 8-10 February the UK Collaborative Centre for Housing Evidence and Policy Scotland hosted the Scottish Housing Policy Conference 2022. We welcomed academics along with policy and practice experts from across the housing sector to discuss the Scottish Government’s proposed rented sector strategy which was launched on 20th December 2021.
The proposed strategy plans to deliver a “fairer rented sector” in Scotland that “meets the needs of tenants and welcomes responsible landlords”. The proposals include developing a national system of rent controls for the private rented sector, as well as measures to ensure minimum standards and stronger enforcement of regulations.
The event kicked off with a special introductory session by Patrick Harvie MSP, Minister for Zero Carbon Buildings, Active Travel and Tenants’ Rights, and was then followed by three 2-hour online sessions.
