Reviewing residential retrofitting literature

In addition to long-standing issues like affordability and access to decent housing, the climate emergency has brought new challenges that demand immediate action to reduce carbon emissions in the built environment. This mapping study conducted by Dr Bilge Serin explores the international literature on residential retrofitting, addressing these pressing concerns.

The literature reflects a diverse range of themes, including the role of individuals in residential retrofitting, retrofit policy and planning, projections and models, life cycle assessment, thermal comfort studies, and heating-cooling-ventilation aspects. There is also a growing diversity in disciplines and analytical approaches, indicating increasing interest and innovation in residential retrofitting.
