Shaping futures: changing the housing story (2017)
The Shaping Futures project is an international housing research and knowledge exchange program that focuses on comparative learning rather than simple policy transfer. It involves academics collaborating with policy and professional leaders in Australia, Britain, and Canada to address the challenges faced by their housing systems.
This report emphasises the need for a new narrative on housing that recognises the importance of metropolitan markets, housing as economic infrastructure, and its role in addressing inequality and exclusion. It highlights common challenges, such as the diminishing focus on housing in policy and lack of evidence-based decision-making. The report calls for effective policies to counter and redirect housing processes and outcomes.
This report was initially published in 2017.
